That would take away the fun of my Santa sleigh up in the air at Christmas time... Code? Wow I'm glad I don't live in an area that picky. Never had one at my house lol! Just 5 bucks for a permit to build And none needed for an antenna tower!
I bought a tonfa 10 watt dual band portable a couple years ago. Works great for my needs in dual band. Added plus was 2 weeks ago while ice fishing (always just bring a CCR for that in case it goes down the hole). I forgot my am fm radio for listening to local high school basketball game and the tonfa had that ability ...
In my early days here in Maine the fire dept ran 33.9. You would never guess how many times I was awakened by the exact same tones as we used. Only they were from several hundred miles away...I was very glad when we moved to VHF
the test bank questions and answers are on line most people one day of reading them then next day taking the practice tests will have you passing. You can pass it I did so anyone can!
I really am backwards with encription but when I used it we had to take the radio in once a week to get it "Keyed" I thought it was a PIA as like I said not much was said really needed it this was a saber portable with DES thats all I know
encryption is the in thing kinda hard to get FOI requests ..... In 29 years of Emergency service maybe twice encryption would have been nice. Once was for body bags for a major aircraft explosion. Though at the end of my career the military commanders had DES in saber portables and that was just a pain in the butt
I believe you can do it anyway you want. Personally I'd go with wide. I look at it as a 4 lane highway Allowing more traffic and faster vs going to a 2 lane trying to jam the same amount of traffic And have seen loss of range with narrow banding. This is my unscientific thought process.
Pretty good call on that. Last time I looked there were only 3 of us north of Bangor And I have only talked to one of them mostly on line here... More issues with kids playing on any and all freq. and then there is the road flagging crews with their foul mouths
prob a foolish question but does it have to be 462.700 and 467.700 (even though here) I cant use them can it be 462.700 and 467.550 to mess up the non approved users?
wow the post is still alive! The foolishness of hf knowledge on HF on my part caused this post since that time I bought 2 dipoles after the first post I bought the 20 meter dipole and wasnt good enough for me flipping thru the freq I was missing alot. I since then got a multiband dipole and have been very very happy the freq I didnt get to tune up safe I bought an automatic tuner for them but havent had any luck someday!I will figure it all out Just wish I had started the ham adventure many many years ago but then againyou have to figure Im just one of those Non code whackers lol
Send your rejected ones to me. Your worst is prob better than my best lol Btw is there a way besides an antenna analyzer to see if an antenna is good? I have an older business band uhf that I have no clue about Don't want to install it and find out it isn't any good
