    • "illegal"? No..
    • Not complaint with FCCs regulations? Maybe.. But, the FCCs certified the radio sooooo..
    • Does the FCCs care? According to the FCCs' lack of enforcement, No
    • Do any normal people care? No
The FCC doesn't assign the FCC ID and certify the radio. The testing labs do. The test report goes on file with the FCC.

The FCC has later gone and pulled certification on some radios that were later found to be illegal.

  1. In my post on the KG-UVD1P a guy commented that these radios have a "suicide chip" that fails and renders the radio useless.  I've never heard of such a thing and I'm sure it this WAS an issue that Wouxun would have fixed it by now(the radio has been out for 14 years) or they would have dropped production of it because of all the returns that they would have gotten. Has ANYONE heard of this being an issue with this radio??  Thanks.
I would suggest you do a Google search. Like I previously mentioned, I had three. All three failed.

Companies constantly have products with design flaws and fail to acknowledge them.

  2. At 1 hour 19 minutes and 48 seconds THIS web site is specifically mentioned by the FCC agent that is speaking.  He seems to be a member here, and as such he knows and by extension the FCC KNOWS who is doing what.
And that is a good thing. The FCC will be aware of what's going on and will adjust...slowly....to meet our needs....maybe, hopefully.

  3. Sorry it took so long to get back to this topic. You're absolutely right! Or
It kind of makes me irritated when certain individuals tell you, you can't use 10-codes on Amateur Radio, because it sounds like CB. Then again you can't Q-codes on CB or GMRS. Hey, as long as you are in the confines of the FCC Rules and Regulations. Who Care?
I understand why Amateur Radio Operators do not want to hear, That's a Big 10-4 good buddy! That Hollywood motion picture such. If someone says 10-4, let it be. Not 10-4 Good buddy
Long standing tradition. You will find amateur protocol follows traditional operating procedures. Some repeater owners forbid cb lingo on their systems.

  4. Just because the radio says it's doing 10 watts means nothing. Put it on something like a calibrated watt meter. Some years back people were buying Baofeng radios that "claimed" to do 8 watts. Once they were tested on a watt meter the real power output was around the 5 to 6 range. Oh well just typical for a Chinese radio to over state the spec's.
The H8 has a 10.watt output per a watt meter.

  5. Ok, so here's the situation.  I am both Ham and GMRS licensened. My son has a Baofeng GM-15 Pro. and I have a Baofeng UV21 Pro. So his radio only transmitts on GMRS but can recieve  VHS as well.  My will transmitt on both. So, since I can do a 2 meter simplex to transmit, and then set his to transmit on GMRS and recieve said 2 meter frequency.  please explain where the legality issue comes in.
You are basically making a one way transmission. Your conversation is split between 2 services. One way communications are forbidden by regulations.
