  1. I agree with what you are saying here but... and maybe I misunderstood but I thought he was saying he wanted to program both in his radio (just the same channel/frequency with different settings) so depending on where he was and which one was in range he could have both programed to use.
  2. Yes. Also if you leave the RX tones off on your setting for the one with tones you'll hear both as well as any simplex.
  3. Nope. Don't think you'll find it either. Baofengs are going to be your best bet for such a thing.
  4. So as far as limiting the KG-1000 Plus they didn't? Sounds like they removed things that we're not applicable to GMRS. Not trying to argue either but as someone who is considering the purchase of the 1000 Plus if there was something limited that is something I would be interested in but I'm not seeing it. From what I see so far it's been improved as has my KG-935G Plus.
  5. Welcome, Stan. Lucky call sign you ended up with, it rolls nicely ?
  6. I’m not saying you’re wrong because I don’t have them both to compare but can you give me an example of how the 1000G plus is more limited? I’m curious because I recently received the KG-935G plus and noticed I can change channels 8-14 from low to high and narrow to wide which I discovered by accident. I’m not saying you should in fact my understanding is besides the regulations there is few reasons you shouldn’t but my point is it seems less limited though likely an over site in the new programming. Okay follow up to my claim that you can change those settings after testing the radio. It's true I can change those settings but when you operate the radio (press PTT) the radio still works within the specified confines that it should. Still would like to know what's more restricted about plus models though.
  7. Nice catch. I guess it's another difference between Ham and GMRS. Section 97.111 of the Commission's Rules, 47 C.F.R. §97.111, authorizes an amateur station licensed by the FCC to exchange messages with amateur stations located in other countries, except with those in any country whose administration has given notice that it objects to such radio communications. Currently, there are no banned countries. 47 C.F.R. §97.111, authorizes an amateur station licensed by the FCC to exchange messages with amateur stations located in other countries, except with those in any country whose administration has given notice that it objects to such radio communications. 8. Are you talking about what comes loaded on the radio? If so they openly share those on the bettersaferadio.com site.
  9. At least... I just received two and I still want one two more ?
  10. Outstanding! I love the support team there with you too.
  11. You’re welcome, I think the KG-UV9G pro also. I have a couple Wouxun radios. They are quality compared to the Baofeng radios but then I like them too. All tools with a purpose. ?
  12. Wouxun KG-UV9GX…
  13. "It retransmits only (only is key here) communications from GMRS stations operating under authority of the individual license under which it operates" = family "and" (also key) "The GMRS stations whose communications are retransmitted are properly identified in accordance with this section." = they follow identification protocol

Looks like there is one on Renegade Mountain (Crab Orchard 700) that is linked. It's a bit away from you but looks to have good coverage and is open. There is one closer that is a members only. As @Sshannon mentioned you will have more access to request repeater access once you get your license and log in. Also when looking at the repeater map click the gear in the upper left corner to show offline and stale repeaters. You may see some that arn't shown and are active.
  15. Thank you @Sshannon your examples should make it easy for people to grasp the rules. The only reason the repeater is not required to ID in scenario one I believe is that it would be redundant.
  16. Welcome Welcome Jay, we have friends in Flagstaff… nice place.
  17. There are aps for the iPhone but I haven't found them to work all that well. I think it's really for the FCC if they/you need to identify an issue and where it's coming from. this^^^
  18. It’s a feature… new heat sink design ?

Hey check this one out. https://www.elettrovalentino.com/en-us/r73197-midland/
  22. Wow! ? Thanks for the info on your experience @marcspazand @wayoverthere. KG-1000plus it is then.
  23. I’m with you on this. I do like the price point and it looks like you can add as many extra repeater channels as you like which is a plus.

Yep we all know the rules as they are now. This thing ain’t new. It’s off eBay. It looks to have a removable antenna but as I said not likely going to find an improvement out there. According to this Two Way Radios forum (here in the U.S.) it does not have the middle FRS channels. I’m no expert on this thing nor do I care to be one. Just trying to give accurate info on what he has without assuming it’s what it looks like to all of us. Please let us know if the antenna was in fact removable. https://www.twowayradioforum.com/t/need-replacement-g-11/6058
