Wouxun 935G software - virus?

I decided I wanted to play arounnd with just changing the banner display on my HT, so I figured I'd just try the free Wouxun software. Imagine my surprise when Norton flagged it for embedded malware and removed it. Has anyone else seen this?

Many people have reported this with other manufacturers software and it has always been a false-positive, but I don't recall seeing this mentioned with the 935G software.. 
Where did you download it from?  The only safe/trusted source would be from BuyTwoWayRadios.com .

That's where I got it, along with the cable driver. I work in a particularly paranoid sector of the IT field, so I decided to go with the RT software. That sort of trouble, real or otherwise, is something I'd rather avoid.

The virus warning is a false positive with the 935G programming software when downloaded from Buy Two Way Radios. Myself and several others run it without any issues.

False positives from Norton are quite common and that's the main reason I stopped using Norton several years ago.

What I found to be the best way to get around all these worries about virus and other nonsense, especially when it comes to loading Chinese software, is to load it all in a virtual machine. All my radio programming software from various manufacturers gets installed in a Windows 10 VM, whether from a legitimate company such as Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom, RT Systems, or any of the Chinese companies such as Anytone or TYT. I always take a Snapshot prior to installing any new software and can restore the VM to its prior state with a couple mouse clicks should I get bit. The best part is I can take a copy of that VM and run it on any other machine, even if the host is Linux or Windows.

I use VMware, which works great. A very good free for personal use VM software is made by Oracle called VirtualBox. I have used both and have no complaints about either one.

As for using anti-virus software such as Norton and McAfee, they are a virus within themselves and one has to manually remove all traces from the registry after using their "uninstall" program. Keep it simple and use Windows Defender.

Norton HAS become rather intrusive of late, and the overall view of Windows Defender has improved.

I’ve used Norton Utilities since Peter Norton owned it and Antivirus since it was released and I’m ready to jump ship. They’ve become the worst at constantly trying to sell a person up. Way more annoying than I want.

I think I recently read that Rudy Giuliani claims that RT Software was formed by Hugo Chavez in Venezuela and shares commissions with Norton...

I have loaded the 805, 905, 935 and 935+  software and all are fairly simple and similar to CHIRP. Two observations I made vs CHIRP is there is no "copy/paste" feature ( I was able to load a 935 profile into the 935+ software though) and the label field is all the way to the right( a minor gripe for me but it's fine if you pay attention) I downloaded all the software from BTWR site and have had no issues.

I have also used CHIRP whenever possible.  And Norton software has been garbage for many years.  Best to uninstall it in my opinion.
