  1. The picture didn't show the 2 GPS Pucks either. So in that truck I had 4 APX8500 multiband radios, 1 Sierra Wireless LTE Modem and a Lowband radio. So technically 5 radios. My new truck has the same radios but have glass mount wifi, LTE and GPS antennas due to spacing on the roof. Waiting on a new cap and will have my Starrlink and some other antennas on that and most likely move my lowband to a ball mount. What reason. Beacuse I can. . But in reality they are for my job. In my volunteer life we run multiple radios for SAR (VHF, UHF, 700/800) and can have up to 4 radios in an officers vehicle. Most just run a VHF and UHF. Public safety is all over on the east coast so not one radio will do all. Even our multibands are nice but if dispatch is calling me on UHF trunking I can't hear a user on VHF calling command. So multiband only gives us the ability to have more options. Doesn't fix the need of a tool for each job.
  2. Mine were all Motorola mounts. I use Laird/Larsen on all my SAR vehicles. Any decent NMO installed correctly will last for years. I have vehicles from 2008 with the same NMO in the roof still in use.
  3. My solution was a NMO mounts thru the roof. Had 6 on my 2018.
  4. Line A is still a thing. What has changed is GMRS frequencies are no longer part of the restrictions. I still have multiple FCC frequencies for public safety being held up in Canda.
  5. I foget your in Maine ? Where abouts ?
  6. The antenna mount doesn't look right. Those teeth should be smack into the steel bracket. Can you get a better picture of your mount assembly ?
  7. Sorta yes. In a P25 MSI system you would have 1 control channel that is alwasy control. Then the remainder of the system is available for voice traffic. However depending on the system channel capacity this gets challenging. For a 6 channel TLMR system you could have 3 channels set for control channels, 1 channel for BSI witch leaves 2 that are first used for voice or data calls. In reality you have 5 channels for use but it is managed to use certain channels before others. Now DMR is different but most P25 stuff is similar.
  8. In both our SXS on the farm we use them idland mobile. Simple, cheap and just works. They are covered in mud dust and other stuff all the time, I hose off vehicle once month and dont worry. Run 1/4 wave on a pipe mount bracket on both.
  9. The majority of LMR radios do not have free downloads from their sites. Many Kenwood shops will sell yo uthe software. It most likely is on a CD and not a floppy. I'm sure there are places on ebay that sell a download but I've alwasy preferred software from the vendor vs internet
  10. Cool. Looking forward to getting the wheels dirty in PA. First week of October is Uhwarrie JJ so will be there for that one as well. We have busy summer with events. SMJI is in August so will be there, then October have 3 JJUSA trips planned and Windrock for hopefully November.
  11. Assume you mean AOAA in PA ? We will be there this weekend for Jeep Jamboree. Got home from Uhwarrie last night and had enough time to pressue wash semi clean to head north Wednesday night.
  12. The radio is going out of lock most likely. There is a slim chance you could retune the vco if you have a service monitor and manual but sometimes there are componants that need changed as well. As suggested best bet is to sell the unit and get one in the lower split.
  13. I have yet to see a mobile radio in a race car. Every radio I have seen is a portable with an antenna adapter. I dont know if indy or F1 is different but at least in the nascar world its all portables. Rarely do you even see a mobile in a safety truck either. If you are doing a mobile I'm with others get a quality LMR radio with limited functions.
  14. Whats really sad is the amount of folks on this forum that encourage folks to break the rules. Regardless if its uncertified radios, using non gmrs frequencies like ham. Then on top of it it we tell folks dont worry no one cares or can do anything. What happened to be a stewardess of the hobby/service ? Lately this forum isn't much better than the prepper forums out there.
  15. As said NMO mount dead NMO mount dead center of roof. I run 1/4 wave on mine but all depends on use case.
