jwilkers got a reaction from WRDB702 in BTech GMRS-V2 squelch setup in CHIRP?
CHIRP will be updated overnight and tomorrow's build will have the patch included, so loading the patch manually won't be necessary.

Um, I'm very new to CHIRP, and have no idea how to complete this process. Have you tried this, and did it work? If so, I will try to dig deeper and try to figure it out.
Thanks for doing the footwork! ?
EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out, and IT WORKED! Thank you so much for your help with this, and if you report back to CHIRP, you can report that the fix worked perfectly for me!

MY GMRS-V2 also will not hold the squelch settings. Nothing I tried worked.
I contacted a CHIRP dev, as well as emailed BTECH

OK.... The CHIRP developer is on it and has a test patch.
It is located in: https://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/9933
The test file must be downloaded, then loaded into CHIRP in its developer mode.

jwilkers reacted to WRDB702 in Newbie from OH-IO
Welcome!
I am in central Ohio and use the Johnstown repeaters mostly. What area of Ohio are you in? This site has been very helpful for finding repeaters in my area as I move around the state.
(While I don't use repeaters for the majority of my radio use, I've been impressed by the increaded range the repeaters provide.)

Quick question….can you program all of the channels in any combination? Most seem to lock out the first 22 channels and leave them in order allowing you to modify the tone.
I have a need to program about 35 combinations using channels 1-7 with different tones and channel names. All of the radios I have tried only allowed user programmed repeater channels so I can only use channels 1-7 one time each.
UPDATE: I just read the post above and it answered my question…. -

Just be careful.....Roger beeps are "good buddy beeps" to truck drivers. You may find yourself the recipient of an invite to a rest area men's room for a romantic interlude

jwilkers got a reaction from RayP in GMRS travel channel
Well, where I'm going with this is that the travel and calling frequency has already been established. Why is it necessary to come up with another one. Just support the existing standard.

Mime came Monday. It's great. I like the fact there are no hard coded channels. You can put any gmrs frequency in any channel memory..or not.

I haven’t ordered my V2 yet . I’m seriously considering buying one . I’m just kinda waiting to see the new Wouxun and a few reviews on it . Before I decide on buying the V2 . The Wouxun KG-S88G . It is supposed to be a more rugged radio. IP67 rating. Cost about $70 more then the V2 .
Although anything Wouxun comes out with in GMRS you almost got to wait a year before you can get your hands on it .
All and all I think that the V2 is a good value for a GMRS plus it’s IP54 rating will cover anything that I will put a radio through. I can also buy extra batteries fairly easily and cheap plus I have 3 v1 radios, that I can switch parts for etc. think I just talked myself back into buying the V2

jwilkers got a reaction from catbrigade in MDC signalling on GMRS.
I call MDC "whacker tone" because whackers use it to sound "official". I really see no legitimate use for it at all.
