Was he actually stomping on their communications, though? I haven't read every account of it, but what I've read (including a skim of the proposal) just mentions him transmitting on their frequencies.

I believe he was, including transmitting music on the channels used by the mall to pretty much block their communications.

When the radio is set to Ham Mode, it will not transmit out of ham band.  Yes, you can put out of band frequencies into the memories, but they will be RX only.  The same is true when set for GMRS, only those frequencies will transmit.

Really? Mine will transmit GMRS and I have it set to ham mode.

Just remember that it needs a ground-plane so slap it on a cookie-pan or something.

I have this antenna on my mobile base, and i was disappointed at first until i realized it needed a ground plane lol. i moved it to the middle of table and it works MUCH better. Good product.

    I have a similar question:
There are no repeaters on a particular channel for well over a hundred miles from my area.
Would it be legal to talk simplex with low-power handy talkies on that input frequency?

Why not have a conversation on the output frequencies? Or are those in use already?

Be aware that the Radioddity DB-20G and the Anytone AT-779UV can use each others programming software and code plugs interchangeably.

But the Retevis Ra-25 apparently must use its own programming software and code plugs generated from its software.

Turns out the software is pretty easy to figure out. Not as easy as CHIRP, but acceptable.

Mine says "channel load".  I was fighting a programming cable the wouldn't connect and didn't pay attention to the opening message.  I don't remember it saying that.  Guess I should just turn it off.

I bet it was "channel mode."

I would support the idea if it weren’t for the fact that 10 - 12 million people live far enough north that they are not allowed to use channel 19 because of an agreement with Canada.

Based on my subjective and nerdy calculations, there are a little over 10,000 licensed GMRS users that are affected by this, which works out to about 7% of the United States licensed GMRS users.  I say we (the 93%) use channel 19 anyway hahaha

And if your are trying to utilize GMRS and FRS you are probably locked out, tho I've read there is an unlock process that works and is easy. Literally hold some buttons and turn the radio on.

I tried this, it didn't work for mine. Maybe my source had the wrong button combination.

back4more70, a few minutes ago I created a new post in the Equipment Reviews section.  The post mentions that some Baofeng radios which supported broadcast FM reception might not do so due to chip shortages.

My new post provides additional info.

    saw that, thank you
