For my Baofeng UV-9G radios, I use an ABREE AR-780. For my Wouxun KG-935G+, I use a Commountain CM01-K2P. I'm very pleased with both choices.

I don't own the BTECH model, but after comparing features, I ended up with the Wouxun and just love it.

Hi all, I just purchased a Nagoya NA-701G to play with for my Baofeng UV-9G. I wanted a shorter antenna than the dual-band stock antenna that was specific for GMRS. I have found that the local police frequencies I was listening to (~131 MHz) are not received as well as using the stock antenna. Would this be because the Nagoya is tuned for GMRS, and is much less sensitive versus the dual-band stock antenna when used outside the GMRS frequencies? Seems like the obvious answer, but not sure. Thank you.

Would this in turn create a MURS repeater?
§ 95.2733 Prohibited MURS uses.
MURS stations must not be operated as repeater stations or signal boosters. This prohibition includes store-and-forward packet operation.

The antenna shown above, from what I understand, has been ridiculed as being little better than an antenna dummy load.
A fair test is performed here ---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E9c2Jlndmg <--- by the Greatest Living GMRS YouTo0b Hobo, NotaRubicon Productions. Yea, though I drive through the slums of southern California*, I fear no evil for N.A.R. is with me. His videos and antennas, they comfort me.
*a necessary evil this lowlander must suffer to ascend to the Glory of the High Desert
I just installed one of these, and it sounds great. I replaced a Nagoya UT-72G, and the Midland Ghost provides greater clarity.

Put a forest, hills, or houses full of fat-people between me and the other radio, and the fars will drop significantly.
I prefer being referred to as a Well-Marbled American, if you don't mind, sir.

In that case, the Pofung BF-T11 are $30 per pair on eBay
These are great little radios. I've used them in the wild and they work well. I have six of them, I guess just to have six of them lol

Does it transmit out of band in order to use it on Gmrs freqs?
I have the BF-H5 which is essentially the same radio, and the H5 transmits HAM, MURS and GMRS.

How will passing the ham test make the GMRS Pro useful?
Maybe he uses the GMRS Pro to prop up his HAM HT so it doesn't tip over?

Saw this in an article just now:
"The SKA-Mid array in Karoo (will) scan the sky for sources of radio waves in the middle frequency range from 350 MHz to 15.4 GHz using 197 dishes, each 50 feet (15 meters) in diameter."
How soon do you think it will be before Midland starts advertising FRS radios capable of reaching Africa?

One of the favorites here on this Forum that will meet your specifications is the Radioddity DB20-G a/k/a Anytone AT-779UV.
a/k/a Retevis RA25. But I believe the DB20-G and AT-779UV are easier to program via computer, from what I read in other forums on this site.

A lot of information in these forums if you do some searching and reading.
Agreed, but when I joined I didn't know what to search until after I read a bunch

How long does it take to get your call sign after paying fee. Is it possible to just listen to Ogloby, TX tower. In the Killeen Area
Pretty sure the license only takes a day or two after paying the fee. If you just want to listen, maybe start with a $22 UV-5R, until you have a handle on your needs a bit better.

My cable is pre-screw, but I just hold it in place with my hand. The download/upload process only takes like 30 seconds.
