Lately it seems like a few people are asking loosely worded questions and then snapping at people who give a knowledgeable answer.
My ignore list has gained another.Mine too!

HS.......I just explained the Comet is at the lower elevation but better swr. That's why I'm asking the question. Hey shannon, I know you mean well but you don't always need to be the first one to answer questions on this forum. I don't know if you do it because you're a moderator, a showboat, a HAM or just answering most post just for the sake of earning badges. But I just explained what I know, then ask a reasonable question.
Congrats. You've placed yourself in the pile of users that no one wants to help.

You will want to get your general class amateur license if you really want to use the HF bands
I'll say that someone should go for General regardless, since it is not that much harder than Technician and grants plenty of extra privileges.

My pet-peeve are batteries: After ten years of staying away from Wouxun (because their batteries drain even if switched off) I just bought one of their new radios just to find out that the battery problem is still a thing.
I have a KG-935G+ and a UV-9D Mate, and I do not have this issue with my radios. Which model did you get?

This also looks like a solid deal:

Any recommendations for a tri-band antenna that you have used on an HT? I have a Baofeng UV-17R Pro GPS and just discovered it will transmit on 1.25m (as well as 2m and 70cm). The original is the standard male SMA to female connection dual band antenna.

He isn’t saying that in this particular post; what he posted is the requirement in 95.1761(c). But he’s using it to support ann incorrect interpretation. We have to consider the paragraph in its entirety. The buttons on the outside of your 935(g) don’t allow you to program your radio to a frequency capability not listed in 95.1763, so they’re not what this paragraph is talking about:
You sure? Because:
I have been dying to use this image somewhere

all programming features need to be internal inside the case on the circuit board for only authorized techs to access.
Just so I understand, are you saying that radios cannot have buttons outside the case to facilitate programming? My Wouxun KG-935G+ would disagree.

Thanks! Didn't know what that was so I looked it up. That doesn't sound right though. The reason is that I was mobile and traversed around an 18-mile round trip, going closer and further away from the repeater. Both the RX and TX never wavered, which doesn't sound like picket fencing. If I understand the concept the signals would vary and they never did.
Picket fencing is when signals are fluttering in and out.

Well I found out that the UV-5R GMRS will indeed transmit on 2m VHF frequencies IF and only IF you save them to the radio and are in channel mode.
The standard UV-5R will also t/r 1.25 meters if you set it up right. Not sure about the GMRS version. (Of course, you would need the correct antenna...)

Fortunately we’re not all like that. When I took my tests the VEs were very welcoming.
I passed my Technician exam while visiting Wyoming, and the VEs were delightful. Then I passed my General exam in my town in California, and these dudes were severely uptight. Must be a reflection on the locale haha
Anybody seen the new Retevis (Ailunce) HA1G radio?
