Tried till I'm blue in the face and can't find the information in an old post.

How and where can we look GMRS call signs and owner name?

A friend applied/paid and never got the email and can't find his call sign.

Here is the search form for a gmrs license (I googled "FCC uls lookup gmrs"):

Glad to help. And I know...it's often easier to find things via Google, rather than navigate to it on their site.

I was speaking recently on a local GMRS repeater to someone who would only identify with his last 3 digits and his first name.

It turns out that the FCC database does not allow the "*" wildcard in its Callsign query; i.e. *123

So I googled it instead with his name and up his full callsign came.

When I entered it in the myGMRS Callsign search, I discovered it was expired! B)

Don't under estimate how many people you talk to on the radio are sitting at their computer, or smart phone, punching in your call sign into QRZ or the FCC search engine as you speak. A few ding-dongs have been found out high-jacking somebody's else's call-sign or using one that doesn't even exist.

The FCC database is more interesting because it shows your license class. More than one Ham got caught on band segments that they don't hold the proper license class to use. You can't tell from the call sign format. I never changed mine from when I had a Tech Class license.

If they have a 2x1 or 1x2 callsign you can be sure they are Advanced or Extra, otherwise not really possible to know... ?

You can get a vanity call sign while a Technician class, but it’s limited to Class C or D 😧

Technician is in Group C with General

It's on the second page.  Don't know how to link it

You’re right. I stand corrected.  From page 3:

Note: You cannot receive a vanity call sign from a call sign group for which your operator class is not eligible. For example, if you are operator class T (technician), you can only receive call signs from groups C & D.

IDK what the specifics of the code is behind this, but no matter the link it still goes to page 1.  As if all 3 pages are actually page 1 and you can only see part of it at once. Doesn't show as a frame on the page on my browser, maybe it is.  I usually love linking directly to a frame rather than a page with a frame if the frame is what I am specifically referring to.

That’s just how it works. You copy the url from the browser address and you paste it in your post. Then you click on it and you click on the next page arrow to follow it to page 3.

I could have used this link instead:
