SteveShannon Posted Monday at 07:10 PM Report Posted Monday at 07:10 PM Don’t hold your breath hoping for an improvement. The last time Trump was president the Agriculture Act of 2018 was passed which eventually led to the Forest Service wanting to recoup costs for radio repeaters at forest service sites. WRXB215 Posted Monday at 07:51 PM Report Posted Monday at 07:51 PM It's always a "wait and see" situation with things like this. I do hope Carr will do a good job. Quote
Socalgmrs Posted Monday at 08:04 PM Report Posted Monday at 08:04 PM What’s broken? It’s works just fine for me and every one I know. Quote
Lscott Posted Monday at 08:10 PM Report Posted Monday at 08:10 PM The only thing I see that has any chance of changing is allowing the use of Part 90 radios on GMRS. And that's still a VERY BIG if. Allowing the use of Part 90 radios would acknowledge what's been going on for years, and would make the practice legitimate. All those used wide-band only LMR radios would find a new home on GMRS. They would be a better and higher quality alternative to the CCR's out there. The fly on the butter are the radios need programming. Since GMRS was aimed for non technical users how one would placate the FCC's concerns over missed programmed Part 90 radios causing interference to other services has to be addressed. That won't be easy to do. pcradio and WRXB215 2 Quote
SteveShannon Posted Monday at 08:43 PM Report Posted Monday at 08:43 PM The FCC like all other regulatory agencies has to follow NPRM. The FCC Chief can’t decree a change to GMRS regulations, although he could call for changes which result in NPRM proceedings. Based on his own comments I expect he will be focusing on freedom of speech in Social Media, election fairness for broadcast networks, and Trump’s grievances against “mainstream media”. Is that exactly what he said? He simply "does not like their stories"? (I read that as "shows"/storylines) or was there maybe something more to what he actually meant, in context? WRXB215 1 Quote

kc9pke Posted Tuesday at 07:08 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 07:08 AM Carr is too busy whining on Twitter about how the FCC didn't hand Elon Musk's Starlink a blank check for broadband subsidies don't expect that clown to care about 8 shared narrowband channels Quote

SteveShannon Posted Wednesday at 08:06 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 08:06 PM One thing that I like about the Brendan Carr nomination is that he is already a commissioner. Regulations are some of the most complicated things there are in government and bringing in an outsider who has little experience exponentially adds to the burden for the people who do the actual work. Willie Posted Friday at 04:05 AM Report Posted Friday at 04:05 AM Quote A similar Advisory was issued to an operator in New York after exceptionally rude and harassing behavior toward a net control operator, and for claiming that the frequency was “his frequency because his net had used that frequency for decade.” All frequencies are shared, and net longevity does not result in special privileges on any frequency. Ummmm... yeah. I've definitely heard that one being used on air before. Those reports remind me of the days when Uncle Sugar wanted you to NARC on your neighbors during the 'pandemic' if they had visitors over. JamesBrox 1 Quote
