  1. I heard the same thing... have faith and wait... it is worth it for group scanning. It is better for us all if BTWR gets a container load ship then only have 20 plus or so shipped at a time... These radio are shipped FOB to SC so better saving for us in bulk shipment. See my earlier post if you want one of my new 805G... Jack
  2. I have two 805G and a 905G pre Chinese new year shutdown for holiday. If you are a power user.... wait for the 905G. Otherwise name your price and will send you a new 805G in the box as I use a 905G for the group scan, plus going for Ham Ticket and looking at the KG-UV8H... O I'm keeping one 805G for family use and keeping my 905G... This offer is for anyone who wants to buy my 805G... Jack
  3. I like your comments. I switched to GMRS HT and installed in my new Jeep mounted to the passenger hand bar. Did not even install my old CB from the old Jeep, but picked up a CB handheld if I ever need it... Happy Jeeping in Moab. Jack
  4. So it is less then a year from your post and wanted to know what radio you picked... I going sit for my Ham test the end of May and have a KG-805G and 905G for GMRS and looking at the KG-UV8H for a Ham radio which will only monitor GMRS and can not transmits on GMRS. So just wanted to know what you have discovered. Jack
  5. I see that now... Those that are Part 90 can only RX GMRS and not TX which is Part 95. Thanks for your answer. Jack
  6. I agree, just giving you hope as it is worth it... would you like my 905G? Joking.... it is my daily HT. Jack
  7. Good move... At least with 816 I do not get the warning... Glad GMRS is adding some support for your tough times. Keep the faith. Jack
  8. Well I gave it a try and the KG-UVD1P froze up on me... The KG-816 is my pick... Also I do not get the warning screen about "You may break your radio"... Paraphrasing. Jack
  9. Thanks for your question... I'm in the process getting Ham Ticket, test May 29. So one of my desires is able to scan the channels I want without reconfig the radio. So question to the Ham guys, do you do both services (Ham-GMRS) in one handheld or not. Jack
  10. Yes, I looked tonight and still $70... Must be the bureaucrats holding it back... all the hoops are done. Jack
  11. I agree... So what is the difference from Mac OS and Linux.................... wait for it................... how much you spend... $0 for Linux plus a $500 for a pc with linux installed and over $2k for a Mac... So go learn linux and make money. Jack
  12. Thanks for the offer, I will do it tomorrow but if you do let me know your findings. I knew you were joking... that is why I said in humor as my first word. I was not upset... remember I had a big smile going to the bank with PC customers. In fact I like your comments as it made me feel so thankful for PC issues. Hey, I have to deal with PC users and get paid well, but for my family and girls going through high school and college I did not want to be their support staff while I was out of town... Got them a Mac OS and gave them the Apple 800 number and off I went on the road to make money... I should add for them not coming to me for support helped our family relationship as I had lost all my patience with customer who paid and they did not... joking but you know what I mean. O my wife I put on a Mac OS as well... Best thing I did for family relationship.... Jack
  13. Thank you Michael for the RT Systems info... I looked it up and will download to see if it will run on my XP OS. I remember you and I like the cut and paste feature of CHIRP... The Wouxun PC programing software for 905G does not do a good job of cut and paste... I want to make a scan group 7 for select channels and do not want to type every entry. My new tag line is "Many minds working for good" on this forum has been great. I can't wait for the new release of RT Systems, first one who see it make a post on the forum. Jack
  14. This is good to know.. I played with it today a little and will do more tomorrow... This is why this forum is so good... Many minds working for good. Jack
  15. Welcome to the community from a fellow Jeep newbie since Nov 2020. I saw your Jeep as I have a 2018 JLR (4th Jeep). What radio and antenna did you order. I use a https://www.buytwowa...and-mxta26.html with mag base https://www.buytwowayradios.com/midland-mxta12.html But under full disclosure I have only put it on my steel bumper to test it out and found that my KG-805G and KG-905G handheld works so well with it's 15 inch antenna which mounted on the passenger handheld with a mic/speaker draped over the mirror. Photos available, just PM me with your email address so I can send them as have issues in uploading photos on this forum. Keep reading all you can and ask questions as these guys are very helpful, friendly and everyone has a viewpoint that will lead you to your own decision as to what is best for you. It is a great experience walking with these GMRS/Hams guys. Jack
  16. Welcome to the family friendly community. You have a nice selection of radio... I have a 905G and 805G. I think the Wouxun KG-UV8H Dual Band Amateur Radio (8 watts / 2m/70cm with GMRS will be on my next radio on my wish list after I get my Ham Ticket. Enjoy your journey and feel free to ask any question so not only you can learn but many others can as well. Jack
  17. After reading all the good clear comments... I said, "Just purchase the best radio at your price level and enjoy the radio with all the features you wanted"... Jack
  18. I should add that Zello has a commercial application https://zello.com/pricing/ for groups. I did not dug deep into it so check it out... I'm only interested in free personal GMRS login and channels. Jack
  19. In humber... you miss read this... still a Mac guy... and wanted to see if the pc CHIRP has the same problem. I will never go back... I make millions from those who have pc... Jack
  20. So for your KG-805G radio you picked the KG-UVD1P format and it worked for you? I may try that after you confirm your radio works as well. Jack
  21. I agree with your comments Michael. What little I monitored and joined a channel or two on Zello, one most be license. I can't speak for all channels, just the ones I had became a new members to a channel a monitor had to validated me. It will be the same in my case and I will add the password feature. So looking at setting up as a closed private Zello repeater, not promoted. This started with one of Kaylee class friend is moving 60 miles away and no repeaters in the area. Thanks for all the comments, I'm a "play it by the book" kind of guy. Jack
  22. I agree with you on having a GMRS license... I'm glad you covered that if others are not on same page. Jack
  23. I have an "out of the box" idea and JUST NOW testing this option. I setup on Zello.com as an example a Jeep Trip account and then added a network server call it whatever. This will allow all the folks to use cell phones as a GMRS radio and everyone in the Channel hear and talk... As I said just playing with it... Note users have to have either WiFi or cell connection as the repeater will be back at base camp and connected to internet... Remember I'm still working on this and awaiting for my cable to make it happen but feel really good that you can have this site in your hotel via WiFi and it will work... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08XS61CCR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is what I ordered for $33 and had a free GMRS VOX able radio... Remember your cell needs to have a ear jack like my older iPad Air with Zello working and WiFi as well. Hope this helps. Jack P.S. I do have a local repeater to make this happen as well. I will write up my setup in a week or so.
  24. I see your point... Just purchase the best radio at your price lever and enjoy the radio with all the features you wanted... Not by brand or status you think it will bring. Now I will hold my tongue.
