DPL is a digital code rather than the analog tone used in CTCSS. On many radios it’s called DTCSS or DCS. Almost every radio supports it but some companies have included some non-standard codes.
The Motorola version of CTCSS is simply called PL, not DPL.

Transmitting with one radio and listeniing with another radio right next to the transmitting radio is not a reliable way to determine that you're not transmitting.  The listening radio may desense and become deaf because of the proximity of the transmitting radio.

    Can you?  Yes
Will it work well without spending time, money, and having some advanced radio knowledge?  Probably not.

Man... I don't know why everyone raves about Ghost antennas. This one has no range.  Once I'm a few yards away from the other radio, I can't hear them and they can't hear me.

Weird part is, the cable is fine and the SWR is spot-on, 1:1. Picture for attention.

There are also much better Repeater options at a $1900 price point than a Bridgecom.

Its a $25.00 CCR. What do you expect for manuals. All the CCR stuff has horrible documentation. Enjoy the radio then go buy a better one.

You're transmitting out of the designed frequency range yet you are complaining because it doesn't work as well?

You bought it for GMRS, why do you need it to transmit outside of that?

Nice and quiet here in SoFl, I require permission to keep it that way. any licensed users welcome, but let me add your information and call sign to my log first. Simple as that.

My mentality has been changed over the last 6 months or so. I went from having private portable GMRS repeaters to not having any as I really no longer have the need for the service on a family basis (now it is simply another go to and talk service for me) as I've been moving everything family/business related over to VHF P25 primary and DMR UHF secondary. So now if I'm going to put up a GMRS repeater...I'll put up an open repeater and just leave it as is.

Scott, nice to see the Saber love (even this morning on Ops Who Use). For those who don't know, Scott is a Saber whore who has probably forgotten more about the Saber than most of us will ever know.

Yes it sucks that most repeaters or private or require access.  But its their time and money that went into putting the repeater up, so they ultimately make the rules.

The mismatching of PL or DPL tones is done usually to slow down unauthorized users.  If you ever visit NYC, you will see why its done that way.

Some onwers only request permission, so this way they have an idea who is using it, and can keep track of how many users use the machine.
