Once I'm a few yards away from the other radio, I can't hear them and they can't hear me. Weird part is, the cable is fine and the SWR is spot-on, 1:1. Picture for attention. Those fins are horizontal. You need to turn it 90 degrees so the fins are vertically-polarized. I can see military applications for the technology. I connected it to my Quantar repeater over the weekend and on 20 watts (the lowest setting) I was able to get a truly impressive100 yards. Lol 2 meters actually, which means the antenna was a little short. I could have got at least 50 yards further on GMRS. Maybe even to the end of the street. Line of sight of course.
