  1. The repeater is known as The NotARubicon Ranchino 600 Repeater, or more simply as just "Ranchino".
  2. You're not going to hack this, so start preparing for defeat..
  3. Assuming you entered them on that channel, then, yes. That channel is now programmed for Ranchino.
  4. I've hit repeaters 70 miles away and talked with HTs 25 miles away using a 25W radio and one of those small 3db antennas. But if you still cant hit any of the repeaters then be a pillar of the community and put one up!
  5. There are many "771" antennas out there and I assume they all come from the same chinese child-slave-labor hut and just get different stickers. I have tested several (maybe all) of them, and have never noticed any difference in reception that my ear could pick up, and only small differences in improved transmission farz compared to stock GMRS antennas. The only time I've ever noticed 'real' difference was when comparing it to a UV-5R antenna which is not well-tuned for GMRS, and even then, the differences were not huge.
  6. Dude... It's right there in the manual.. I highly suggest you read Page #21
  7. Hopefully yours isnt so old that it can't support those tones.
  8. In case you werent aware - anyone that runs into me while off-roading (IN the dirt, not on the streets!) gets a free GMRS radio! (while supplies last). Just find me most saturdays anywhere between Anza Borrego and Randsburg, and unless I've already given away that days radio(s), you'll get one (IF you need one)
  9. According to page 30 of your user manual, DCS311 is code #42. Further explanation on entering the tones is on page #21 - admittedly, on this model radio setting tones is a PITA.
  10. what ....tone....are....you.... trying..... to... enterrr?
  11. What is the type (CTC/DTC) and tone you need to enter?
  12. ...and Riverside might be a stretch, depending on where you are/if you dont have good line of sight to North Rancho.
  13. Than you are either not in range (try outside) or you dont have the right tone.. DTC/DCS/DPL: D023
  14. Its on Haven Peak.. step outside and look north, unless you are north of Hillside, then just look toward haven. Is that you that keeps calling out for Unit 2 ?
  15. That is the GMRS version so your life is going to be a lot easier getting repeaters set up. To set up the Inland Empire "Ranchino" repeater, start on Repeater 17/Channel 25 and enter the DTC TX tone 023. For a pro, this should take about 15 seconds to set up right on the keypad, no computer or cables needed.. For your first time, set aside at least an hour.
  16. Impossible to know without knowing which flavor UV-5R he has.. it might be labeled "repeater 17", it might be labeled "Channel 25", it might not be there at all and he will have to program the frequency (462.600) AND the split himself, from scratch.
  17. Put your radio on Repeater Ch17, add Transmit Tone DPL/DCS D023, and me, or any of a dozen or so people monitoring that repeater via the internet will talk to you..
  18. I WISH my callsign was that pretty! He should be thanking Xenu for what the FCCs hath blessed upon him.
  19. On the GMRS-9R, like every other GMRS radio, the offsets are programmed - so all you need to do is pick the correct repeater channel and set your tones.
  20. I dunno - i bought mine gently-used for about $500.
  21. You might also consider a repeater that has a high-temperate rating. My VXR-7000 is rated to operate at up to something like 160F (if i am recalling correctly). The thing is nearly bullet-proof..
  22. Dealing with the Youtube overlord-bots is a PITA.. Its easier and less hassle to just spend 15 minutes re-editing the video, re-upload it, and get 2X as many views and get paid 2X as much, in addition to the payout from the first video.
  23. Recently a big GMRS youtuber posted a video about the repeater-jammer, callsign WRTD259 in Steelton PA that got busted by the FCC for jamming a repeater. In that video the youtuber reads the public FCC violation notice and displays the FCC public notice of violation on the screen - you can see the full, public complaint against WRTD259 here: https://www.fcc.gov/document/jonathan-gutierrez-licensee-station-wrtd259-steelton-pa Now SOMEONE has filed a notice of privacy-violation against that video, demanding that all personal information about the jammer be removed from the video.. Of course, there is no way to know exactly who filed the notice.. But if we were to guess who filed the notice, hypothetically, it would seem funny that a jammer would demand everyones attention while jamming, but does not want any attention after he gets caught.
