Connect the radio to a fully charged battery and see if the static goes away when you turn up the volume. If it does, reconnect the radio to the power supply and see if the static reappears and if it does, the noise is caused by the power supply.

    Yes, they can fail.
They can also have components that fail resulting in lots of electrical noise. That’s true of either the power supply or the radio.
You could also have a speaker that starts sounding terrible. Plugging in headphones can rule that out.
Or something in your house may be creating noise. LED Christmas lights are a prime example. Something hams will do is run the radio from a battery to eliminate external noise sources. We even go so far as to turn off the circuit breakers to the house one by one to determine what circuit is causing noise.
The radio is probably least likely to generate the noise. Figure out a logical order to eliminate potential problems until you find the actual problem. Don’t just randomly check stuff.
I would check the power supply first, then the house circuits.

    In order:
    1. Yes.  If necessary you can always add a fan.
    2. No.
    3. Not at all.  No, you are not better off setting up a repeater and using an HT, especially if you’re trying to hit another repeater.
    4. Sorry, I haven’t. Please share your pictures though.
    5. No, being in a wooden cabinet will not cause interference.

OK, I just had my second mic fail on the KG-1000G unit that I've had for about 1 year now, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue since I believe it is a "thing".    I use this radio a lot - it is mounted in my Jeep and it is used all day long for a couple of days every third weekend or so.  My first mic failed after about three months of such use.   My replacement mic just failed this past weekend (incredibly frustrating when on a group trip and I lose primary comms!).  Luckily I had a couple of backup HTs, but I digress....]
The "failure" seems to manifest itself in the PTT button losing its tactile feedback (it becomes difficult to tell whether it is being "pushed" just by feel, if that makes any sense).  This physical failure is accompanied by a deeply attenuated transmission - where people report that my voice has suddenly become "washed out" or "drowned out" by static.  This is exactly what happened the first time, and after checking everything about my install (including replacing antenna and cable) I verified it was the mic.   A replacement mic fixed the problem.
I am going to reach out to Buytwowayradios today to hopefully discuss this issue, but since I have had it happen to me twice, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue?  I LOVE this radio, but this mic problem needs a permanent fix!

Is the radio wired directly to the battery? or through the accessories on the ignition?   i would try isolating the power from the electric on the JEEP.?

Although 1.39 is better, 1.59 is a low enough SWR that you can use the antenna without fear of damage to your radio.  Based on reports here the Surecom 102 is notorious for being inaccurate for its power output readings, but as long as it’s measuring a near minima for SWR it’s somewhat useful.  I would just use that antenna and enjoy it. You can go broke and crazy chasing low SWR without making a real world difference in range.

As a fellow repeater owner... I agree with your rant...  In fact, I have an aproved only closed repeater and first problem maker, change the codes.  Per FCC I have the rules in my favor.  There are two types of users, those so thankful and the other who think it like public access and they can say whatever.  Keep to you guns...
EDIT: My repeater is not listed and it more word of mouth, friend of a friend....

    Kinda sucks.

I feel for you. Only takes one bad apple to spoil it for everyone.

The repeaters are all on shared frequencies. For example, what's labeled "Channel 15" and "Channel 15R" in most radios (with the R suffix being a repeater) is exactly the same listening frequency.

What makes it a repeater channel is a +5MHz offset on the uplink.

What that means in essence is that if there's a repeater nearby transmitting on 462.550 (for example), you'll hear it on both Channel 15 and Channel 15R. But the repeater won't hear you unless you change to Channel 15R (Channel 15: TX/RX on 462.550. Channel 15R: RX on 462.550, TX on 467.550). But given that the vast majority of GMRS repeaters (at least that I encounter or are listed on RepeaterBook or here on MyGMRS) have a 'tone' set, you likely won't be able to just 'tune' to a repeater channel and then use the repeater. You'd need to identify the repeater, look it up, and program the tone in. At which point best practice is probably to create a 'new' channel specific to that repeater.

So tl;dr, the way you're currently scanning is probably the best way to scan. Otherwise you're scanning through redundant channels.

However, the actual answer to your question is to go to the repeater channels (15R, 16R, etc.), press 'Menu', and then scroll until you see "SCAN-ADD", then make sure that's 'ON', then those channels will be included in the scan. If that setting is already 'on', then you'll want to get the programming cable and connect to the software on a PC and adjust the 'Scan Groups' (or try to do that through the on-screen menu). But again, I personally wouldn't. You'll hear every repeater in range scanning as you currently are; adding the repeater channels to the scan group will just slow it down.

If you're interested in repeaters and don't already have a programming cable; I'd get one. Then program in local repeaters or those you think you'll encounter (999 memory slots; you've got lots of space). Then they'll be ready to go. I haven't tested it, but I believe if you set receive tones for those repeaters and then put all those repeaters into a scan group; you can scan JUST through the repeaters and it'll ignore all other traffic except for what the repeater is transmitting. (Meaning simplex communications that aren't a part of the repeater won't be picked up by the scanner)

Question for any other owners of the Wouxon KG-1000G radio. I recently got one and have it set up as a base with a 30amp power supply. All is working fine, however the Fan on the KG-1000G turns on instantly every time the PTT is used to transmit, "even after the radio is just powered up".

Per the manual, it says there are 3 options for setting the Fan. One of them (default setting) says the fan turns on "when the temperature of the radio is high during transmit". That's what mine is set to. That would appear to indicate the fan "would not" turn on immediately after powering the radio on, right? There is another fan setting that turns the fan on "when transmitting". That is how the radio appears to be acting. It's almost as if there is a bug in the radio with the default fan setting.

Looking for confirmation from other owners that their unit operates in a similar fashion...or not. I have asked Buytwowayradios to confirm this as well. Thanks in advance!

I have learned that anyone that calls something "junk", or worse, "cheap Chinese junk!!" without ever even using the device is an idiot, and should be ignored.
I have several Wouxun radios, including multiple KG1000Gs, and I have many friends that also have them.  The radios aren't perfect, and there is always a chance of getting a dud, but assuming you purchase it from BuyTwoWayRadio, they have great support and will always take care of you.
The KG1000G is my favorite high-power Part 95 mobile radio, I dont care what the "expert" radio-bigots say.
