Thanks for the idea.... I will turn on my radio while in line at Chick-fil-A.

Happy for you guys getting your 905G.... I have had my 905G for over 3 months and it is a great radio... If you need any pointers from a user who had to figure it out, feel free to ask me and we will get you up and running. Enjoy your radio, to me the best feature is grouping channels to scan... Love it. Jack

Wouxun KG-1000G tips and tricks thread
MacJack replied to Sbsyncro's question in Technical Discussion
I found out from BTWR the following: For copy and paste, it works for me but I have to right-click and select Copy. It seems they’ve overwritten the Ctrl-C shortcut with the COM port selection screen. Hope this helps... I have not tried it yet... Jack -
RIPPER238 I just can't understand some of the jerky response... Hey I got a new radio and want to see it it works... give us a break.. I'm sure these jerks did a radio check on there first radios... grow up and be professional and encourage others into GMRS... Jack

I have the battery eliminator that plugs into the cig lighter and works great on my Jeep...the AA pack is a waste of money as I had it on another radios.... You are better off getting and extra rechargeable battery and put one in the charger... but my radios last 2 days or more on the rechargeable batteries. Jack

I have had an issue with cut or copy and paste with 905G software to different groups... I found out that you need to right-click and select Copy from pop up. It seems Wouxun software guys overwritten the Ctrl-C shortcut with the COM port selection screen. I hope they figure that out soon... Another option coming soon is to purchasing from BTWR a new software for PC for both 805G and 905G that does a lot... More info later as it is released.... Without cable it is around $25 download asap... Jack

Paul, you need to know there are thousands more who read this post and could not add any more to what others have given the encouragement you need. From the thousands who read and could not find the words to say that have already been said... Jack

Good job of setup for software... This is a new post on BTWR website... https://www.buytwowayradios.com/blog/2021/05/how-to-install-the-programming-cable-and-software-for-the-kg-905g.html Has a good work around as well. Jack

I know your pain on getting "architectural approval" from wife, but I own the house... O well, we are happy. So I did a temp setup on the deck rail and did my SWR... came in 1:1... using high lose cable. I get my cables from https://www.showmecables.com so my next step is move antenna from deck to top of chimney but first will meansure for cable length and get the correct cable for that run and for minimal loss with end put on using N connection. So I will have a run down from the chimney the connect to a lighting arrestor, then another length from here to through the wall to the radio. I figure I will have over 125 feet cable run as it will be over 100 feet up from ground level (three story house over 2300 feet on mountain). Jack P.S. I like your journaling of your advantages, we are on the same phase of the process.

I do everything in N so as not to mess up...and I do have a set of universal adaptors...Have fun, sounds like you are well on your way. Jack

Nice photos thanks Doctnj. Jack

i have a three of the 771g for my two 805G and 905G and they work great... it is 15.5 inch long antenna and I mount the radios in my Jeep passenger side hand rail so it reaches out the front windshield. Around the house or on my ATV on the acreage, I use the rubber ducky antenna. Pick what is best for your usage. Jack

Thanks Michael, we are having fun at this... After I'm long gone, she will do it for her kids and grand kids... from space.
-
Thanks I will share with Kaylee as we have a contest going on... Grandma thinks Kaylee will beat me... I'm taking beats... odds are 50/50 based on last quiz and new format in helping her understand "Life Experiences". I should add we are getting higher quiz scores and I spend the time to teach her the reason why the answer is. Note to others it is good to have a study buddy with a friend or one of kids to vision cast... It is fun.

Thanks guys, that is very helpful. I did not want to order a radio if I did not pass. That is my motivation... We are doing 3 lessons a day within 10 topic session and now we know a better way to study to help grand daughter as she does not have life lesson to draw from... Makes for fun conversation and she enjoys the stories to why this or that. So it has paid of as we both are getting 80-90-100% on the quiz. Now if we can remember that on test day at the end of month. So after lessons and quiz we will take the mock exam just to see how we are doing... Then start over with the 10 topics study to raise our scores.

Make sure you send us so photos...

Congratulations... I have a question... My Grand daughter and I will be sitting for our Tech exam end of this month... do they give you call sign after you pass and they plug in your FRN number and score in the system OR do you get an email or mail and how long does it take.

SirBeck58, I like your dream and I did my personal repeater for $400 that is either 10 watt or 20 watt and can go as high as 50 watts but not worth it. Got a free hand me down GMRS commercial antenna a list price of 1K. All the advise from this guys on this post are my mentor and coaches and are giving you the best answers... I like trying doing Simplex with your buddy first. I use this program on the web by putting in the GPS locations for you and buddy with height of antenna will let you know if it will work or not. https://www.scadacore.com/tools/rf-path/rf-line-of-sight/ So with the above web base line of sight and your Simplex text will tell if you have a chance. Just so you know, I live in the mountains of Western NC and I get 8 miles with my repeater. If you past the above test, I will tell you what I use as a repeater and it is not RT-97 which looked good but I went for a commercial repeater which has a longer duty cycle and will not die.

Working now that you figured it out... Liking the new forum. Jack

That good you did a script.... makes life easier knowing I not the only one who had two emails... did the get a record count of us "bad boys".

I had an issue and Rich fixed it... It was my fault... I had two different email address for the main login and for the forum and could not link the account... Send an email to support@mygmrs.com and you will be fixed. FYI I sent my login display name and password and he figured it out... You can trust him unless it is the same password you use for your banking... joking... My banking password has $$ in it. Enjoy the new creature features... I'm still learning... I will like the posting of photos... Photo upload great... Jack

Doctnj, welcome to the community... you have heard from some of the best and helpful folks to us newbie (was Nov 2020 for me). Send me a PM message if you just want to talk so you get all this good info you have into perspective and flow. GMRS is like the Masons, you have to know the code. joking so Masons do not come after me... If I could make a personal comment... I like GMRS... good group of folks... wanting something more the CB. I'm taking my Ham Tech test end of May and will hopefully join the next level up to getting a Ham ticket which is more new knowledge which drives me.... BUT all in all I like GMRS the best... and now that I have discovered Zello and have my repeater on it... I own the world of communicating with some great folks outside of my 20 mile area... Enjoy this venture and journey, it is great. Jack
