for my tk880h v1, (i know its not a 780 just sharing info) i use a bluemax49 kpg46 cable, and for software i use the Kenwood 49d software on win 10 and it works flawlessly. would have never thought to try chirp since the Kenwood software is pretty good allowing copy and paste and direct dts/ctss code entry instead of having to use a drop down..

i would only use the touch free ones, anyone with a cloth or material that touches the car can and will scratch the paint but more importantly they can wrap around the antenna and rip it off....funny story...i had a 93 s10 blazer and went to a touch wash and the cloth got caught on the handle to swing open the spare tire carrier (factory) and then pulled it into the rear machine and got them stuck the operator had to shut it down so it could get free....nvr went to a touch wash again unless it was wearing a bikini....
for those in the 303......this was in brighton at the car wash next to the grease monkey and lowes

just about any HT can be used as a mobile, all u need is a good antenna and a battery eliminator. im doing exactly that right now, i use a nagoya nl-770g  https://www.buytwowayradios.com/nagoya-nl-770g.html
with the nagoya mag mount base, the base already has the coax so no need to get anymore.
    https://www.buytwowayradios.com/nagoya-rb-mjpl.html
other thing i would do is get a speaker microphone, and make sure u get one capable of dual ptt since the 905g can do it. if u would like a little more power u can add a amp. the btech amp u-25 is 40 watts and would make you a full power mobile out of a HT.

That defies the odds big time, hitting something that far away without seeing it first.  Probably time to make an appointment with your optometrist, or just be more careful driving next time!

    (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

i used a jackery 240 for my kg1000g now its running a motorola cdm1550ls. it has no issue running it and can last 2 days betweeen charges and the best part is there is no noise. its also not connected to the house power when i use the radio so in storms im not worried about it as much as i would be if it was on house power

my bad its a talkaround ptt button
The KG-905G supports Talk Around. If you're on a repeater channel, talkaround essentially provides an additional PTT button that bypasses the repeater, transmitting on the same frequency on which you would receive.

I thought it was "Walks-on." Oh wait, that's a different YouTube guy (Ham Radio 2.0). Good thing you went with that radio, otherwise you might have had to order from Radioddiddditty, Raddity-iddity, Raddy-oh, or whatever the heck that outfit is called.

only ones i can think about right now are.

mic extension cable a standard cat5 cable works (don't remember who originally found this but thank you)

for a remote head mount cable u can make your own for that perfect install, just make sure what ever standard u use, that you reverse pins 2 and 4 on one end

have u shut off the blue tooth also? is it sat radio? with it being gone with a hard off then its def something in the head unit, could always try the tin hat method, could it be the digital fm receiver maybe try wrapping the antenna cable in said tin foil hat where the adapter more then likely is to go from a jeep to standard fm antenna. if your using the stock radio ground, why not try moving it to a good new location just to see the results? just throwing out ideas....good or bad is your call.........i take no responsibility if u blow up your jeep, blame that on the next door neighbors

Nothing wrong with a J-Pole if it connects you to whom you want to communicate with. I have two of them that I use indoors regularly with my HTs. The higher placed outdoor antenna definitely does better though.

i saw that in mine also and was hoping that it would work on anyone who touched the mic that wasnt spose to.....stun is a viable radio protection asset for kids like mine that want to say hi to everyone on the radio....even when ur not home....
also just think of the fun u could have with your brothers or sisters (at least once)..."hey bro go hop on the radio and give me a 3 count so i can listen to the other radio and see if i got it set up right in the car" .... "picks up mic, gets knocked the f down a peg" all the while your around the corner with a camera to video this and post it to a gmrs forum u visit...

ive had mine for a few days and with mine vs the ht on the same antenna i def hear more with the 1000g, antenna was a homebrew jpole. just put up a dpdproductions GMRS outdoor base antenna and the receive is even better on kg. picking up repeaters that i didnt get previously with the same radio and my jpole..dont judge me for using a jpole im a poor jeep owner and i built it for 10 bucks...

serrasalmus got a reaction from SkylinesSuck in roof top tents and antennas.....
first a lil info on the 95 Grand Cherokee ive lovingly dubbed grandpa he's old and full of piss and vinegar, although he does leak a lil, at 235k on the soul hes a go getter that loves to show where experience and a steady foot (a good set of tires helps too...)can take you

so grandpas carrying the smittybuilt overlander xl rooftop tent....its huge takes up almost all of the roof. tent is 75x47 and is 15inches from the roof, by almost, i got about 10 inchs to use and most of that is the roof line bending down. the tent base is mainly fiberglass bottom sections with what i would call angle iron but its aluminum. then in the center of it sits a aluminum ladder. now on the rear left fender i have a 102" (cant beat'em for there indestructability) for the cb and the tent absolutely destroys swrs I'm lucky to get 2.5 and my range is cut drastically and the antenna is still 75% above the tent line. right now I've got a (i know its not the best) Nagoya ut72 mag mount. running 1.02to 1.03 swr on the roof in the small space as far away from the tent as it can be. ive also tried on the hood close to where your stock stereo antenna would be(cut mine off it got beat to death by Colorado mtn trees anyway) but on the hood, the swrs there i got to a flat 1.0 thru the band. all doors, hood, and hatch have been bonded with 1/2 tinned copper ground straps that are no longer then 6 inches if i could help it

is the tent going to kill the signal on the 70cm band as it does on the 11m band. id like todo a nmo roof mount with a 5/8 over 5/8 to get the extra height. the tent actually moves a lot of the branches before they get to the antenna. the other option is a nmo fender mount but that's going to get beat to hell and back i feel. so that leaves the hood option for a mag mount as im not sure id like to mount a nmo in the hood (wouldn't there be a ton of surrounding rfi).

so I'm trying to decide which route would be the best for my situation and wanted to get yalls opinions and thoughts.
