No, people want to be able to talk into a mic, and no, we don't want it to pass.

Typical government overreach from people who desire complete control of the population.

It would be nice if the citizens would wake up and stop electing actual tyrants.

@WRXP381 I agree with most of what you are saying and it can be frustrating sometimes to explain the same thing over and over again but we need to remember that there are still many people who don't have much experience with technology or with research.
There are both young and old getting into the hobby. Some can figure it out for themselves and some need some help.
Let's be patient and welcome them in.

That is mighty nice of you. I mean it's not like the cost to get a pair is super expensive.

But most administrators off the bat would of not offered or put secondary user stipulations even the if pair wasn't used. You know "in case".

I totally agree. That way the system users can operate under the system license authority and don't have to worry about getting an individual license.
I have several Part 90 Business Radio Service frequency pairs licensed statewide in California and if I need to I will give permission and/or give up a pair for his system.

Textbook Sad-H.A.M. "spending other people's money" response.  The only thing you forgot was your callsign and telling us how many years you've been licensed, so 8/10

Remember the days when your name, your wife's name, address and phone number were published for all to see in a book then promptly mailed free of charge without anyone asking,  to everyones house!

I was just searching my name today for fun, it's pretty funny, it says I'm single, I'm not, it says I went to a high school I never went to or even lived anywhere close to it. It says my net worth is pennies while my yearly income is some giant number. And says my family members include people who's names I've never heard of. It says my past address while correct, was from 2000 when I havn't lived there since college in 1989. The interweb gets ALOT wrong. But i'm sure the media would be happy to publish it as fact. 🤣

Your radiation pattern from an omni antenna would look like a beach ball with a weight pushing down at the top making the top and bottom flat. Tilting the antenna lifts one side of the ball but pushes the other side down reducing signal strength to the horizon. The side pointing up will send more signal toward clouds  and possibly also reducing signal strength at te horizon. The best result is keep the antenna vertical and increase height.

Seriously, I do to agree. A watt or two or three more really doesn't do squat insofar (ooh semi-pun?) as "Farz"

Just a friendly heads up. When asking questions about repeaters don’t post specific info on the repeater unless you are in the private (members only) area of the forum. So maybe just don’t include the name of the repeater or leave out specific tones. Here’s the what and why per forum rules located here.

Private content. Do not post sensitive information such as repeater PL/DPL (also known as privacy or CTCSS/DCS tones) tones outside of the Private Discussion forum. This is to protect sensitive information from being picked up and indexed by search engines such as Google and Bing.

The N indicates Normal while an I would be for Inverted.

As you mentioned there is a +5 for Tx. It is worth noting that the +5 is automatically added on the preset repeater channels of GMRS radios and won’t require you to add it. You may know this already so I mean no disrespect by mentioning it, just trying to help. It sounds like you are on the right path.

@Chessy68 Welcome to GMRS. As far as antennas go, Both Nagoya and Abbree make a 771G which is a very good antenna. Nagoya also makes a 701G which is shorter but still typically better than the stock antenna. Abbree doesn't offer the 701G yet, only the 701UV. Abbree does provide some good Tactical antennas. I haven't tried one yet but so far all the reviews I've seen have been good.
I live in Baytown. I'm not aware of any GMRS clubs in the area but there are a lot of good repeaters around here. Check this site, myGMRS.com and also texasGMRS.net to find lots of good repeaters.

I see the benefits of having a Motorola or Kenwood and would go that rout if I could. But my budget doesn't support that. CCRs are better than no radio at all.
