They don't. The periodic announcements by net-control for "priority or emergency" is to ensure that general net-chat is not interfering with someone seeking assistance for an emergency. It provides a pause in chat during which an person in need can get their call into the stream. In all cases, emergency traffic takes priority. Depending upon the environment, someone calling for assistance may not be heard until a number "net members" have come on line (especially simplex operations -- where the emergency may only be heard by someone on the fringe of the "net" coverage area and may need to be relayed to an operator with suitable access [land line phone, maybe]).
That clause basically applies to ALL the service classes: part 90 land-mobile, part 95 (GMRS, MURS, CB, FRS, and a freight of unknowns, though might be hard to apply to the radio-control service), part 97 (Amateur), and part 80 (maritime).

Sorry for missing the model. When I input the squelch settings it actually made the UV-5R & UV-9G actually work.

Which Baofeng? Also you must put your radio in Frequency Mode. Turn the volume (after cable is connected) too full and back off a little. Then upload your file to the radio.

That's really sad.  Sounds like a great group of guys.  If someone had the funds and skill to set up a repeater there really isn't much they could do to stop you.

That is an awesome idea.  Unforunately im in Washington County.  We have decent repeater coverage in the surrounding area thanks to the work and graciousness of a few individuals.

I'm old enough to remember when the sad hams laughed at all "that cheap Japanese garbage" that began to flood the market back in the early seventies.  They all said, that "junk" would never replace their Hammerlunds, Hallicrafters, Drakes and Swans because "merica" was the king.  By 1980 they were no longer laughing and all those great American companies had been relegated to the dustbin of history.  Today the Chinese are doing the same thing.  In a few short years their quality has improved and they actually listen to customers and try to give them the features they want at a price they can afford.
It's sad that this country can't seem to make anything nowdays...not even toilet paper.

We need to be supportive of them coming out.  It takes a huge amount of courage to face yourself and openly admit to who you are.  That courage needs to be admired.  Oh, wait... you are talking about pulling your radio and getting a different one.  Nevermind.
I was picturing the Village people all dancing around with the KSG1000 radios with Diana Ross singing her coming out song.  Sorry.

I'm a former ARRL EC from years ago and I can certify that you are right. And besides what you stated, politics and determining the "pecking order" happens a lot. After seeing the writing on the wall, I gave it up and told the district EC and ARRL where to go with it.

Have you been under the weather?  The vitriol wasn’t flowing quite as strongly over the past three weeks and I was worried about you.
I have heard your rants many times but frequently during our network checkins we hear someone really clearly from 30 miles away and it always makes me smile when the net operator asks what mobile they’re using and they report they only have a Baofeng UV5R with a stock antenna.
As Randy pointed out you’re full of your own opinions. Not everyone needs a Motorola and those who don’t have one can get just as much use and enjoyment out of their radios.
Good luck to you. Being miserable is its own punishment.

Weird.. My Wouxun KG805, KG-916, KG905, KG935G, KG-UV9G and KGUV9GX ALL transmit on simplex pretty much exactly as the same range as my Motorola XTS5000 - easily 3-15 miles, not "tenths of a mile" as proclaimed by you .. and my Wouxun KG-1000G transmits just as far as my Motorola XTL5000 when at the same power setting.
But you know what everyone says...  "some people" as they laugh in your face and shake their heads, knowing that you're FOS ..

    Avoid the troll.Move on.

Your equipment, your time, your money. You react how you please.

Generally, speaking this is why we can't have nice things. Look at gun contol and the arguments. Don't waste your brain cells or a moment on it any further.

Like he said YOUR resources. He is entitled to his thoughts. Just proceed to ignore, you are giving them power otherwise.

Just document the jerk abusing the repeater and send it to the fcc. Shutting down the repeater when you heard him absolved you of your responsibility after your ignored request. Yes, you are responsible for the repeater, but can't contol everyone using it.

Of course I do not have problem with your comment. Of course I'm ok with it. I was just explaining that WRKC935 has no obligation to anybody. His ship, his rules.
And if you feel that Greater Good can have a little boost in this difficult times, go ahead and do it with your time, your money, your knowledge, and your smooth talk to tower owners. Just do it. I will be first to applaud.

OK, I just had my second mic fail on the KG-1000G unit that I've had for about 1 year now, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue since I believe it is a "thing".    I use this radio a lot - it is mounted in my Jeep and it is used all day long for a couple of days every third weekend or so.  My first mic failed after about three months of such use.   My replacement mic just failed this past weekend (incredibly frustrating when on a group trip and I lose primary comms!).  Luckily I had a couple of backup HTs, but I digress....]
The "failure" seems to manifest itself in the PTT button losing its tactile feedback (it becomes difficult to tell whether it is being "pushed" just by feel, if that makes any sense).  This physical failure is accompanied by a deeply attenuated transmission - where people report that my voice has suddenly become "washed out" or "drowned out" by static.  This is exactly what happened the first time, and after checking everything about my install (including replacing antenna and cable) I verified it was the mic.   A replacement mic fixed the problem.
I am going to reach out to Buytwowayradios today to hopefully discuss this issue, but since I have had it happen to me twice, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue?  I LOVE this radio, but this mic problem needs a permanent fix!
